My grandfather Erl Hatch served in World War I (Even on rainy days). I have not yet located his service record. He was murdered in 1927 as he ran to protect his mother Violetta Emmons Hatch from a robbery. The story of the case and the early use of finger prints in criminal trials can be found in the article: Finger Print on Door Knob and a Mother’s Memory of a Voice Identify Murderer
Andrew Conway Campbell (b 02 Dec 1898, d 08 Apr 1972)
